All Lower Back Stretches for Low Back Pain Relief Are Not the Same

If you're suffering from lower back pain and looking for exercises to help, you need to read this brief post first.

Know Your Lower Back Problem to Choose The Correct Low Back Stretching Exercises

Disc Problems: Bulging Disc, Herniate Disc

If your chiropractor has diagnosed your low back pain source as a a bulging or herniated disc, you need to avoid exercises and stretches that bend you forward or have you pull your knees towards your chest. Instead, you would find more relief doing exercises that arch your back backwards into extension. Cobra pose is therefore the better stretch for your disc pain.

Facet Joint Problems: Facet Syndrome, Arthritis

If your back pain stems from arthritis or inflammation of the facet joints of your spine, then bending backwards will most likely worsen your pain. What you need are exercises that stretch or separate the joints to relieve pressure on them. The Child's pose stretch is therefore the better exercise for facet syndrome or arthritis.

Lower Back Pain Stretching Exercises Are an Important Part of Your Low Back Pain Treatment Provided You Are Performing the Correct Exercises for Your Particular Condition.

Plantar Fasciitis Treatment for Heel and Foot Pain

Plantar Fasciitis Treatment for Heel and Foot Pain

Orange County Plantar Fasciitis Treatment for Heel and Foot Pain

The plantar fascia is a thick fibrous band that connects the heel to the toes on the bottom of your foot. It helps maintain the proper arch in your foot. The fascia can become injured and inflamed creating heel and foot pain from over exertion, prolonged standing or walking on hard surfaces, excessive stair or hill climbing, jumping and landing from heights and from being chronically overweight.

Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis Without Drugs, Shots or Surgery

The goal of treatment is to relieve stress on the plantar fascia and reduce inflammation. In order to do that the forces on the plantar fascia must be equalized. Often the powerful calf muscles are too tight and that pulls up on the heel and creates increased tension in the fascia under the foot. By relaxing and lengthening the calf muscle, tension is reduced from the plantar fascia. This is done with heat and electrical muscle stimulation as well as specialized stretches and exercises.

While the tension is being relieved, the inflammation is reduced with electrical impulses and cold laser therapy.

The treatments typically take 30 min. and are painless. You will be given home exercises to do daily to assist the recovery process. How many sessions and for how long depends on how long you have suffered from plantar fasciitis and how severe it is. Many people find relief in only a few treatments, others take longer.

If You Have Heel and Foot Pain or Been Diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis and Don't Know What to Do or Been Told You Need Shots or Surgery, Call Us Now at (714) 938-0575 and Make an Appointment for a Special Heel and Foot Pain Evaluation. Stop walking on eggshells and get checked right away. You could be pain-free soon!

Low Speed Rear Impact Collision Facts

Low Speed Rear Impact Collision Facts

low speed rear impact car accident injury

Despite What the Insurance Industry Would Like You to Think, Low Speed Rear Impact Collisions (LOSRIC) Do Cause Injuries.

Research Indicates These Collisions are the Most Likely Type of Car Accidents to Cause a Neck Injury. And Here's Why:

When two vehicles collide energy is transferred from one to the other. In simplest terms, when you're at a stop light and another car smacks you from behind, that car transfers its energy into your car. That energy then travels from your bumper, through the chassis of your car, into your seat and eventually into your body. You experience that energy as a jolt or sudden jerk. That sudden movement causes damage to your spine. Medical researchers have figured out a precise energy number at which live test subjects could be injured in a rear impact collision and that number is surprisingly low.

A Typical Car Accident with Vehicle Damage

Again for simplicity, let's say the car that hits you has 10 units of energy to potentially transfer to your car. Now let's say the other cars bumper crushes and that releases 2 units of energy that does not transfer to your car. We now have 8 units left. Your bumper and bodywork crumples as it's designed to do and it absorbs 5 units. There are now only 3 units of energy left that travels to your body and causes a quick but slight jerk to your neck. That slight jerk might still be enough to hurt your neck because researchers have found that it only takes 2.5 units of energy to damage a ligament.

Car Accidents Without Vehicle Damage

Let's take our same example with the car hitting you with a potential of only 8 units of energy because it was driving slower. It strikes your car, but this time the cars collide and there is no crush in either of the bumpers. The cars hit and bounce. That action might only release 2 units between the cars because there is no crushing which releases energy, and so it sends 6 units of energy into your body. That is double the energy from the other example and that has the potential to cause even more injury. So even though there was less energy to begin with and no vehicle damage, your body experiences twice as much damaging energy.

No 2 Crashes Are the Same

There are so many variables to a motor vehicle collision that it is impossible to compare one to another. The types, sizes, weights, speeds of vehicles make a difference. The age, gender, physical fitness, positioning and awareness of the occupants matters. The temperature, condition of pavement, slope of road and more play a role. All of this information and more needs to analyzed to get a true picture of a crash and relate it to potential forces that could cause injury. The auto insurance adjuster will take a quick look at a bumper photo and make a snap judgement. That is not only wrong it is fraudulent. Nobody can make such an assessment off of a simple photo.

What Do Chiropractors Do? Chiropractic in a Nutshell

What Do Chiropractors Do? Chiropractic in a Nutshell

Want to understand what chiropractic is? Here’s a one minute explanation: Chiropractic in a nutshell.

Your Brain Controls Everything

Your brain controls every single cell, tissue and organ of your body. Your brain transmits instructions to and receives information from everything on your body through the spinal cord and nerves. The spinal cord and nerves are protected by the spinal column series of interlocking spinal bones.

Healthy Brain and Nerve Flow = Healthy

As long as the spine is functioning properly and the information is transmitted without interference you are healthy.

Interference in Brain and Nerve Flow = Lack of Health

Interference can occur in the spinal column due to trauma chronic poor posture stress and other causes. Chiropractors call this spinal joint malfunction a subluxation, which basically means a breakdown in the normal functioning of one or more spinal joints. Subluxations can be painless, but if left on corrected long enough they will eventually lead to malfunction in the body or spine and present to symptoms.

Chiropractors Locate and Correct Interference

Doctors of chiropractic are the only healthcare professionals specifically trying to locate and correct subluxations. Correction is through manually unlock in the malfunctioning joints by adjustments or spinal manipulation usually done by the chiropractor’s hand. Once normal function is restored, the bodies full potential for nerve transmission is restored and your health will begin to return.

No two patients are the same. No two people have the same subluxations, therefore treatment type and duration depend on the individual case. Someone who sleeps wrong and wakes up with a stiff neck for the first time and has no previous history of neck problems, is going to be much easier to correct than someone who suffers a car accident injury and has torn spinal ligaments and nerve damage.

Chiropractic + More = Faster Pain Relief

Chiropractors may also use other modalities such as heat, cold, electricity, laser, exercise and nutritional supplementation to support their chiropractic treatments to get patients well faster and to care for injuries that are beyond the basic subluxation.

There you have it, a quick explanation of what chiropractic is in a nutshell.

If you’ve been suffering from headaches, neck pain, back pain or other joint aches and pains, you should consider seeing a chiropractor today. You may be surprised to find how quickly you’ll be feeling better once your chiropractor begins to correct your subluxations.
